Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) is a nationwide initiative dedicated to improving the health and educational performance of children through better nutrition and physical activity in schools. An outgrowth of the 2002 Healthy Schools Summit, AFHK is composed of 51 state teams and a national coordinating and resource group. AFHK guidance and direction is provided by more than 40 national organizations and government agencies representing education, health, physical activity and nutrition.
Oklahoma Team
The Action for Healthy Oklahoma Kids state team has selected nutrition and physical activity curricula to pilot in Oklahoma City and Tulsa schools. In Oklahoma City, AHOK is partnering with the Schools for Healthy Lifestyles (SHL) program. The SHL Summer Institute will kickoff the curriculum project in these schools. Pilot sites in Tulsa will have an in-service for training on the curriculum.
