Senate Bill 265 Passes! Congratulations!!! Governor Henry signed SB 265 into law on Thursday, April 14, 2005. Thank you to everyone for your dedication and hard work for the health of kids in Oklahoma.
Senate Bill 312 Passes!! Senate Bill 265 Needs Your Support!!
SB 312, requiring PE in schools, passed the full House of Representatives, 89 to 9, and is now on its way to the Governor's desk for his signature!!
Fit Kids Bills to be Heard in the House on Monday, March 21, 2005
Senate Bill 265 and Senate Bill 312 will be heard on MONDAY, March 21 in the House Committee on Health and Human Resources. This committee meets in Room 412-C after the House adjourns, anywhere between 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon!! Please try to attend the Committee hearing to show your support!
FIT KIDS LOBBY DAY...A HUGE SUCCESS!!!
The Lobby Day on March 8 was a great success! Both Senate Bill 265 and Senate Bill 312 passed through the Senate. They will now move into the House for consideration. Contact your State Representative and let them know that you think this is an important issue. Ask them to Vote YES on SB 265 and SB 312!
Fit Kids Lobby Day - Tuesday, March 8
Please make plans to attend The Fit Kids Lobby Day on Tuesday, March 8 at the State Capitol, to coincide with the visit from Subway's Jared Fogle. We are hopeful that SB 312 and SB 265 will be heard on March 8, so this is perfect timing. There are many groups planning to be a part of this day, so please make your best effort to show support. The schedule of events is as follows:
9:00 am - Press Conference in the Governor's Blue Room - 2nd floor, across from the State Treasurer's Office.
9:45 am - Room 534 - "Fit Kids Central" - Come by to pick up stickers and information packets which will include a list of all the Senators and their room numbers, fact sheets, talking points and instructions.
10:00 am - Visit with Senators: Take the time to stop by and ask your Senator for their support of SB 265 and SB 312. We encourage you to call ahead and make an appointment with your Senator (note: Senators may already be in session).
~11:00 am - Gather in the Senate Chambers for the vote on the bills. This time is tentative and we ask that you be flexible here as we have no idea when they'll be heard.

On February 23, 2005, SB 265 and SB 312 passed through the Senate Education Committee!
SB 265 Vending Machines: One amendment to the language concerning middles schools to allow diet soda in the vending machines. The bill passed 17/7.
SB 312 Physical Education: No opposition - passed 20/0.
