SB 1700 – July 2010 – Sports Related Injuries – development and implementation of guidelines for school personnel and student athletes related to sports related head injuries.

SB 1876 requires the physical education curriculum shall be sequential, developmentally appropriate, and designed, implemented, and evaluated to enable students to develop the motor and self-management skills and knowledge necessary to participate in physical activity throughout life. Each school district shall establish specific objectives and goals the district intends to accomplish through the physical education curriculum.

SB 1186 increases the PE requirement from 60 minutes to 120 per week in K-5, with flexibility in the additional 60 minutes to include health and wellness education and a variety of means to increase student physical activity.

SB 312 (1) requires school districts to provide certain physical education programs to all students, (2) requires certain physical education instruction in elementary schools as a condition of accreditation, (3) the State Board of Education shall disseminate information to each school district on the benefits of physical education, and (4) requires intruction in physical education be aligned with the Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS).

SB 519 – June 2008 – Directs dept. of health & ed. To facilitate development of a physical fitness assessment software program customizes for public schools.
